This was a good action romance story that tackles social and political issues. Sharleen and Clint who used to be high school sweethearts meet each other after many years and their lives are completely different. Sharleen has become the rich wife of a big-time mafia boss and Clint has become a financially- challenged husband to an ill wife. That alone, is very intriguing, but there’s more to it. The story not only focused on Sharleen and Clint, but also the people who have been victims of unlawful events. This story delved into issues such as racial discrimination, human trafficking, and corruption, and that’s what made this book hard to put down. Definitely a 5-star read for me!
Everyone’s Heroine!
Sharleen is everyone’s heroine! I love her great desire to help people and prove that it is never too late to find happiness. Though this book has the kind of female spirit that will instantly pull in female readers, I doubt that male readers can resist Sharleen and her good heart. What is mostly intriguing about this book are the topics involved like racism, corruption, and human trafficking. This action romance story was such a heartwarming and informative read. I recommend it to mature readers for its sensitive contents.
An Epic Love Story
The author was true to his description of the book about Taylor being an epic love story whose continent spanning scope can only be matched by the fervor of its two leads. I’ve had a nostalgic experience in reading this book because of its classic vibes. Taylor had everything in the beginning and then loses everything when his father killed himself. Then, as if things couldn’t get worse, the love of his life gets deported back to Argentina because of his spiteful grandfather. There was no way an 18-year-old could’ve made the right decision at that point. Taylor’s escape from his grandparents was understandable, but the series of unfortunate events were just way harsh. This book is definitely not for the faint heart. I’m just glad I was able to finish it despite the emotional turmoil it brought me. I guess what made this book a compelling read was the anticipation of knowing if Taylor could still get back up, and if he and Maria will ever see each other again.
Painful Read, But
This has been a very painful read, but I’m glad I read this book because the ending was satisfactory. Taylor was rich and popular and had everything until his father killed himself. Then his grandfather deported his beloved Maria. I could understand that anyone at a young age like Taylor’s would have wanted to escape from those bad memories by leaving home. I can very much relate that Taylor dealt with everything by himself until he really needed help. No one can deal with life alone. That’s the moral of the story. Everybody needs someone, and that fact was well depicted in this painful but beautiful story. I’ve had an enlightening experience in reading this book and I recommend it to readers who are into romantic drama.
Jessica’s Review
This was such a heartwarming and inspirational coming-of-age story! It wouldn’t be hard to draw readers into Anthony’s journey because there is so much to anticipate; this book pulled my heartstrings! It was hard not to get emotional! My heart ached for every trial that Anthony faced at such a young age and yet he grew up to be a successful man with good values. This book showed that people can surpass the hardest challenges in life as long as they have the right people around them. Definitely a 5-star read for me!
It was Amazing
A heartbreaking, but beautiful story! Anthony set the standard for a man with good values. Despite the seemingly never-ending challenges in his life, he just keeps going on and still manages to be a good man despite his tragic childhood. This book evoked a myriad of emotions that were all worth it in the end. I applaud Anthony’s resilience and the author’s ability to pull me into Anthony’s story from beginning to end. After reading the book, he felt like family to me and I was so proud of what he has accomplished as if this were a real story.
As Long as We’re Together Review
I like that this novel doesn’t need readers to read between the lines because of its very straightforward approach. It has a streamlined narrative that only focuses on important details, a style that can be compared to Hemingway for its directness, simplicity, and clarity. Overall, I’m giving this book 5 out of 5 stars. It imparts valuable lessons in life as it tackles health and social issues that would put readers on the edge of their seat.
